Jessica Sanders is an Academy Award-nominated, Sundance and Cannes Award-winning director and producer. Jessica’s career in advertising began when her SONY "Make.Believe" film won the Cannes Young Directors Award and garnered the attention of Steve Jobs who personally selected her to direct Apple’s iconic iPad launch campaign.
Since then, Jessica has gone on to direct advertising campaigns for Land Rover, Samsung, Amazon, Honda, Toyota, Apple and many others.
An alumna of Wesleyan University, Sanders graduated cum laude in English and Film Studies. Her first feature-length documentary film “AFTER INNOCENCE” which she directed, wrote and produced tells the moving story of innocent men wrongfully imprisoned for decades and exonerated through DNA testing. The film won the Sundance Special Jury Prize and numerous festival awards before being released theatrically and premiering on Showtime. It was shortlisted for the Academy Awards and became a game changer in criminal justice reform.
Jessica's second feature-length documentary, “MARCH OF THE LIVING,” which she also wrote and directed, was filmed in five languages, and followed Jewish teenagers from around the world accompanying the last generation of survivors back to the sites of the Holocaust in Poland.
Jessica is currently in pre-production on “PICKING COTTON,” a narrative feature based on the New York Times best-selling book. She was awarded the Sloan Science Foundation Award at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Discovery Award at Los Cabos Film Festival to develop the film.
Currently Jessica is directing the short film “END OF THE LINE,” based on a short story by acclaimed writer Aimee Bender, for Refinery29 and produced through Sanctuary Content.
