Elle Brooks-Tao
Elle Brooks-Tao’s directing career began after a fortuitous meeting with an inquisitive key grip during her shift on a whale watching boat. A few weeks later Elle was working as a production assistant on a feature, bringing with her a tenacity and focus that would eventually lead her to a directing career.
A journalist at heart, Elle recognizes there is no story without conflict. She is drawn to opportunities that give a voice to the voiceless and she strives to push these stories into the light. She enjoys pushing the boundaries of what is expected without compromising the idea. Elle’s curiosity and optimism result in film that is nuanced and fresh.
Elle’s work for McDonald’s International Women’s Day earned her a Cannes Gold Lion, a D&AD Yellow Pencil, and a Gold Clio. She recently has directed work for Nike, Adidas, Comcast, and the ALS Association.
